Digital vs traditional

These little drawings were made for my illustration class. I had to prove that the use of digital media would not result in just one style, but in a vast number of styles.

Several old teachers swear by the use of traditional media. Several new ones swear by the use of digital media. My personal opinion is that you have to master both traditional and digital technique's. Painting digitally is just as hard as painting traditionally. Traditional or digital media will present you with different challenges.

One can easily correct his own mistakes with digital media, while you can not do that with traditional media is faulty logic. If I paint something with acrylics, I can easily cover up my mistakes too, by adding a new layer, just like I can do in Photoshop or Painter. And not all digital painting techniques allow you to easily erase mistakes. Different techniques exist both for traditional and digital media. Some can be covered up, others can not be covered.

So in short, traditional and digital media work differently, and are just as hard to master in my opinion.
